Coral Swag

Anyways, I'm loving these pants from The Gap! They also have a dress in this print which is adorable too. The different shades mean you can wear them with a whole multitude of colors. I chose orange/coral because next to purple's those are my favorite. I stuck to a similar color family so as not to distract from the busy pattern on the bottom half. I chose the neutral clutch so I could play with bright colors throughout the rest of my outfit. I can't wait to style these pants again! Bright neon yellow pumps? Oh the possibilities...

One of my teenage patients the other night used the word 'swaggy' during one of our conversations . Being out of the loop when it comes to teenage slang I was left wondering - what the heck does swaggy mean? After doing some intense research on urban dictionary I was enlightened.

Swaggy - Having swag. Being able to portray swag in the way a person walks, talks and dresses.
(Urban Dictionary)

I have to say, this may be one of my new favorite terms. Plus, how cool would I look if I could bust out the term swaggy to one of my teenage patients? Or maybe I would just get a look of sympathy. I'll let you know.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

With Mother's Day exactly a week away  I wanted to dedicate a post to some gift ideas for mom for those of you that are still searching. If your mom has similar tastes to mine i'm sure she will love some of the following! But honestly, the best gifts are those that come from the heart with a touch of homemade flair. Remember arts and crafts day in elementary school? Exactly. I know your mom probably still has some of those Mother's Day crafts lying around the house. I know mine does.

Canadian Tuxedo

Happy Friday everyone!

While wearing head to toe denim can be reminiscent of a bad 80's movie, it can also look undeniably cool. I wanted to keep my accessories simple as wearing all denim is statement enough. I initially had the scarf tied around my neck, but I decided tying it to my bag would look way more polished. Plus, I find wearing a scarf with a collared shirt is too much going on in one area. I also wanted to mix up the denim washes and fabric weight so that I didn't look like I was wearing a denim unitard. If your not sure whether or not you want to try an all denim ensemble - why not pair a chambray top with white jeans? Just don't go out for spaghetti and meatballs - because if your anything like me it will be the one time your dinner ends up on your lap.

When push comes to shove, wear whatever the heck you want! As long as you have the confidence you can get away with anything!

Black, White and Patterned All Over

As mentioned in my last blog post I have been really into patterned pants lately. And what better way to show off patterned pants than with a patterned top? Mixing patterns can be tricky but if done right it can be visually stimulating. By picking a base color/colors (I did black and white) you can easily tie in patterned pieces effectively. I like to mix a denser pattern in with a more sparse pattern print.  I also love anything leopard print - mix that with stripes or polka dots and voila! Stripes and florals is also a great combination. Who am I kidding - stripes is always a great piece to use when mixing patterns as it goes with virtually anything if you stick to the same color family. It's also important to throw in a neutral piece with your outfit - hence my nude shoes and handbag. It helps to break up your outfit and balance it out. Do you have other ideas for mixing patterns? What rules do you go by?
