Persian Pickles

What is a Persian Pickle you ask? Some may say its 'slang' for the paisley motif. I didn't make that up, I swear. I considered naming this blog post Yellow Paisley, but I thought 'Persian Pickles' sounded way cooler.

While I never owned anything paisley I was immediately drawn to these pants from Ann Taylor. I loved the fun, yellow design. Nothing says spring and sunshine quite like yellow. Plus, Ann Taylor has petite sizing. Being short, I often find it hard to find pants that aren't too long or tops that don't fit like dresses. Ann Taylor has a great selection of petite items so I end up making alot of my purchases there. Anyways, this blog post was really meant to be focused on the shoes! How amazing are these? I saw them on a fellow blogger, Wendy's Lookbook, and I immediately had to have them! Now that the snow has melted in Calgary I don't have worry about ruining these bad boys when I'm out and about. Plus, I'm a sucker for anything with bows. I'd say about a third of my shoe collection consists of shoes with bow decals. I can't wait to style these with different ensembles. I have to say these are definitely my favorite shoes right now. I love the pale yellow, a welcome change from a classic black or nude heel.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Coral Swag

Anyways, I'm loving these pants from The Gap! They also have a dress in this print which is adorable too. The different shades mean you can wear them with a whole multitude of colors. I chose orange/coral because next to purple's those are my favorite. I stuck to a similar color family so as not to distract from the busy pattern on the bottom half. I chose the neutral clutch so I could play with bright colors throughout the rest of my outfit. I can't wait to style these pants again! Bright neon yellow pumps? Oh the possibilities...

One of my teenage patients the other night used the word 'swaggy' during one of our conversations . Being out of the loop when it comes to teenage slang I was left wondering - what the heck does swaggy mean? After doing some intense research on urban dictionary I was enlightened.

Swaggy - Having swag. Being able to portray swag in the way a person walks, talks and dresses.
(Urban Dictionary)

I have to say, this may be one of my new favorite terms. Plus, how cool would I look if I could bust out the term swaggy to one of my teenage patients? Or maybe I would just get a look of sympathy. I'll let you know.

Things I love...

Hi everyone! I decided to dedicate this post to things I am currently loving and some other random photos that I fancy. I hope they inspire you! Enjoy!

I have to say one of my favorite colors to wear right now is yellow. Thats why I just had to buy this yellow envelope clutch from RiverIsland.

The IPhone case is from GrandaStyle on Etsy They have many different styles and colors. I loved this pink Miss Dior perfume bottle.

And as you may already know, I have a love affair with anything decorated in hearts. I got these Toms off their American website, and sadly they did not offer them on the Canadian site. After contacting many different Tom's representatives to see if they would ever come to Canada I was only left heartbroken. And then I came across a seller on Etsy who was willing to purchase these shoes for me and then ship them to my home in Canada! And who says there aren't any nice people left in this world? I must have thanked her about a thousand times because I couldn't believe she would be so kind as to do this for me! Needless to say these shoes definitely brighten up my day. You can view her shop on Etsy @ BekasBargains She paints any custom design you want - flowers, superheros, you name it!

How adorable is this make-up bag and mirror compact from Forever 21?! You can find your own set here and here. While I adore anything decorated in hearts, I also totally dig anything with dog patterns on it. I have a sweater covered in miniature poodles that I can't wait to bring out come the fall. Tacky? Maybe. But I love it.

Heart shaped whoopie pies? Yes please! Recipe found here. Easy and delicious! Plus they're heart shaped so you can't go wrong.

Loving gold bracelets these days. Can you say arm party?

I received this book as a Christmas gift last year from my parents. They must have known that I have an addiction to shoes. As if the shoes spilling from my closet into the hallway isn't clue enough. Its a great read for anyone interested in the history of shoe design. It features 60 of the most iconic shoe styles. A must have for any shoe lover like myself. You can purchase it here.

And as always, a girl can never have too many perfume bottles. Depending on my mood I go back and forth between them. Sometimes I'm feeling a little Chanel, and other days its Gucci. This is about half of my collection so lets hope I can use them all before the go 'off'. Does that happen? I guess I'll have to let you know. Whats your favorite perfume?

Here are some of my favorite beauty brands (MAC, Benefit, Nars to name a few). My mom got this makeup bag from Clinique when they had their bonus days a few months ago. You spend a certain amount of money and they give you a whole bag full of sample sized beauty products! Naturally, I had to borrow this because its just so darn pretty. Plus it came with a miniature bag inside, where I keep all my bobby pins and hair elastics. When you live on the go like I do (travelling between home, work, and boyfriends) you need to be organized!

And last but not least, who doesn't love purple flowers?

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

With Mother's Day exactly a week away  I wanted to dedicate a post to some gift ideas for mom for those of you that are still searching. If your mom has similar tastes to mine i'm sure she will love some of the following! But honestly, the best gifts are those that come from the heart with a touch of homemade flair. Remember arts and crafts day in elementary school? Exactly. I know your mom probably still has some of those Mother's Day crafts lying around the house. I know mine does.

Canadian Tuxedo

Happy Friday everyone!

While wearing head to toe denim can be reminiscent of a bad 80's movie, it can also look undeniably cool. I wanted to keep my accessories simple as wearing all denim is statement enough. I initially had the scarf tied around my neck, but I decided tying it to my bag would look way more polished. Plus, I find wearing a scarf with a collared shirt is too much going on in one area. I also wanted to mix up the denim washes and fabric weight so that I didn't look like I was wearing a denim unitard. If your not sure whether or not you want to try an all denim ensemble - why not pair a chambray top with white jeans? Just don't go out for spaghetti and meatballs - because if your anything like me it will be the one time your dinner ends up on your lap.

When push comes to shove, wear whatever the heck you want! As long as you have the confidence you can get away with anything!
